(The Khmer Daily Network): On the afternoon of May 7, 2026, during the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, to further bolster the momentum of their close cooperation.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong praised the long-standing and fruitful relationship between the two nations. He reaffirmed Singapore’s commitment to strengthening ties within both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, ensuring a more resilient partnership for the future.
In response, PM Hun Manet expressed high satisfaction with the continuous progress in bilateral relations, highlighting key strategic achievements:
Investment & Taxation: The recent entry into force of the 2nd Protocol amending the Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement (DTA), which serves as a vital tool to attract more Singaporean investors to Cambodia.
Food Security: The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on Food Security between the two governments.
Military Service Expertise: PM Hun Manet informed his counterpart that Cambodia will begin implementing the Law on Military Service in 2026. He expressed his hope to gain insights and share experiences from Singapore’s extensive background in national service to ensure effective and smooth implementation.
