On September 17, 2023, in the message to His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, regarding the unanimous decision of the World Heritage Committee to register the “Koh Ker Temple Site” as a World Heritage, Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, stated that the “Koh Ker Temple Site” maintains its integrity and authenticity of universal value, whereas the site’s registration is a new great national pride after the listings of Angkor, Preah Vihear and Sambor Prei Kuk sites in the World Heritage List in 1992, 2008 and 2017 respectively.
In another letter dated the same day, Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister shared with the Cambodian people the difficult and complex process, especially the preparation of documents, inspections and evaluations by national and international experts at a time when Cambodia as well as the world as a whole was fighting against the Covid-19, and considered those hard works indicating the strong will of the Royal Government of Cambodia to emphasize the great value of Cambodia’s cultural heritage to achieve the registration of Koh Ker temple site in the World Heritage List.
Samdech Thipadei continued that this great achievement is another new prestige of the nation in the international arena, reaffirming the result of the relentless and untiring efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia under the shade of peace, which is the achievement of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen’s win-win policy. It not only brought the Cambodian people national unity and harmony as the basis of nation-building and development in all fields, but also preserved the development of cultural heritage and traditions as the heritage left by the Khmer ancestors to the next generation as well.
In order to celebrate this historic event, Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister instructs the ministries, institutions of the Royal Government at the national level and all institutions at the sub-national level, calls on the Cambodian people of all strata and walks of life to beat the gongs, drums, buckets and other means of noise making at 7am on September 20, 2023 in every major public places, and calls on all radio, television and social media stations to cooperate in disseminating this important national pride event./.
